Sally and I day-tripped up to Newbridge House and Farm, where the skies finally decided to let go of all the rain they’d been holding onto for the past 2.5 weeks. There was a delightful walk from the train station through a park, a house tour, and a farm tour.
In the 18th century manor house we saw all sorts of curiosities…the weirdest being a “duck press” (which does exactly what you think, in order to make fresh gravy at the table) and the most ingenious being a self-resetting mouse trap.
There were loads of baby animals (even teeny, tiny guinea pig pups!) and a bunch of stag. The rain started right after we picked up lunch, but there's no indoor dining yet, so we hid in with the bunnies to eat lunch in relative dryness. :)
